Josh Groban is an acclaimed American singer, songwriter, actor, and producer. Joshua Groban was born in Los Angeles, California, on February 27, 1981, into a family with a strong musical background. His grandmother, a Juilliard alumna, demonstrated her pianistic skills from the age of three, while his father, a businessman, was also an accomplished pianist. Encouraged by his parents to explore a diverse range of musical genres, Groban embraced influences spanning from opera to pop. Collaborating with David Foster

Josh Groban’s journey into the world of music began in the 7th grade when he started singing and later joined the Interlochen Arts Program to focus on his vocal training. By chance, Groban’s vocal coach was an acquaintance of David Foster, the renowned producer, writer, and arranger. In 1998, this connection led to a professional collaboration between Groban and Foster.

Initially, Groban worked as a rehearsal singer, participating in high-profile events such as the inauguration of California Governor Gray Davis and the Grammy Awards. Foster’s support was pivotal, not only in these early performances but also in securing Groban a recording contract with Warner Bros. through his own 143 label. After signing with Warner Bros., Groban made the significant decision to pause his education at Carnegie Mellon University, a choice that soon proved to be a fruitful one.

Josh Groban made his recording debut on the soundtrack for Steven Spielberg’s 2001 film A.I.: Artificial Intelligence, performing the song “For Always” alongside Lara Fabian. In November 2001, he released his eponymous debut album, which quickly garnered significant acclaim. Within a year, the album achieved double platinum status, ultimately selling approximately four million copies. In October 2016, Josh Groban captivated both critics and audiences with his Broadway debut in Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812, a musical by Dave Malloy inspired by Leo Tolstoy’s War and Peace. Groban took on the role of Pierre, which earned him a Tony Award nomination.

In addition to his stage success, Groban’s acting repertoire includes roles in films such as Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011) and The Muppets Most Wanted (2015). Regarding his personal life, Groban was in a relationship with January Jones, star of Mad Men, for over two years before their separation in 2006. He later dated actress Kat Dennings, known for Two Broke Girls, from 2014 until their breakup in 2016. Groban publicly acknowledged his relationship with actress Schuyler Helford during the 2018 Tony Awards.

On October 31, 2017, Groban shared a harrowing experience on Twitter after witnessing a tragic incident in lower Manhattan, where a driver deliberately ran into pedestrians, resulting in eight fatalities before being shot by police. Groban, who was walking his dog at the time, recounted hearing “8-10 quick rounds” and revealed that he had been close to the scene where the confrontation occurred before his dog diverted him to safety.
