Miranda Lambert Today: Singer’s New Album Postcards from Texas is Almost Here
Miranda Lambert is poised to release her highly anticipated 10th studio album, Postcards from Texas, on September 13. The Grammy-winning country artist introduced this album with the release of her divorce anthem “Alimony” in July and has also teased fans with fiery singles “Wranglers” and “Dammit Randy” earlier this year.
The forthcoming 14-track album marks Lambert’s first collaboration with Republic Records and features a special duet with Parker McCollum on the song “Santa Fe.” Postcards from Texas follows the success of her 2022 album, Palomino, which received a Grammy nomination for Best Country Album. Recently, Lambert shared with Us Weekly that her self-produced album embodies “all kinds” of country music influences.
“I made this with a new energy, reminiscent of the vitality I felt at 19 when I recorded my first album,” Lambert explained. “This record feels like coming home, and I’m excited to send you some letters from home for a while.”
Who Is Miranda Lambert?
Miranda Lambert, a Grammy-winning country singer, is renowned for her powerful and evocative lyrics, as showcased in hits like “Heart Like Mine” and “Gunpowder & Lead.” A native of Texas, Lambert gained recognition as a teenager on the reality singing competition Nashville Star, which led to her securing a record deal. Her debut album, Kerosene, was the first of many chart-topping country records, with subsequent albums such as Platinum and Wildcard earning Grammy Awards for Best Country Album. In addition to her solo career, Lambert is a member of the country trio Pistol Annies and has won the CMA Award for Female Vocalist of the Year seven times. After her divorce from fellow country star Blake Shelton, Lambert married Brendan McLoughlin. She is set to release her 10th album, Postcards from Texas, in September 2024.
Early Life: Parents, Talent Shows, and Nashville Star
Miranda Leigh Lambert was born on November 10, 1983, in Longview, Texas. Raised in Lindale, a small town where her parents, Rick and Bev, operated a private detective agency, she grew up in a musically enriched environment; her father was a guitarist and songwriter, and her early influences included country legends such as Merle Haggard and Guy Clark. Miranda has a younger brother, Luke.
At just 10 years old, Lambert participated in her first country music talent show, which paved the way for her future. Her performances on Johnnie High’s Country Music Revue, a weekly variety show in Arlington, Texas, helped launch the careers of many artists, including LeAnn Rimes and Lee Ann Womack. Additional talent competitions led to appearances in a commercial and the teen comedy Slap Her… She’s French (2001).
Inspired by singer-songwriters like Emmylou Harris, Lambert began crafting her own songs after learning guitar from her father. At age 17, she formed her first band, Texas Pride, while still in high school. Her family supported her ambitions, financing and promoting her first independent recording, a self-titled CD released in 2001. Committed to her music career, Lambert graduated early from Lindale High School in 2002 to pursue her dreams.
The following year, she secured a significant opportunity by auditioning for the country music reality show Nashville Star. Though she finished as the second runner-up, her talent led to a major label contract with Sony Music Nashville. “I was hoping not to win,” she noted on her website, explaining, “The winner had to make a record immediately after the contest, and I wasn’t ready.”
Albums and Hit Songs
As a solo artist, Miranda Lambert has released nine albums, seven of which have achieved the distinction of being No. 1 on the country charts. Notably, Platinum (2014), her only album to top the Billboard 200, and Wildcard (2019) both earned the Grammy Award for Best Country Album. Among her five No. 1 country hits are the Grammy-winning “The House That Built Me,” “Heart Like Mine,” “Over You,” “We Were Us” (featuring Keith Urban), and “Somethin’ Bad” (featuring Carrie Underwood).

New Album
Lambert is set to release her upcoming album, Postcards from Texas, on September 13, 2024. In an interview with Us Weekly, she described the record as encompassing “all kinds” of country music. “I made this with a new energy, kind of like the energy I had at 19 making my first album,” Lambert remarked.
Pistol Annies
In addition to her solo endeavors, Lambert is a member of the Grammy-nominated country group Pistol Annies, alongside Angaleena Presley and Ashley Monroe. The trio made their debut on the CBS special ACM Girls Night Out: Superstar Women of Country in April 2011, followed by the release of their first album, Hell on Heels, in August of that year, which reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart.
Their subsequent album, Annie Up, was released in May 2013 and peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard country album chart. That same year, Pistol Annies collaborated with Lambert’s then-husband Blake Shelton on the hit song “Boys ’Round Here.”
After a five-year hiatus, the group returned with Interstate Gospel in November 2018, featuring popular tracks like “Got My Name Changed Back” and “Best Years of My Life.” This album also secured a Grammy nomination for Best Country Album. In October 2021, Pistol Annies released their first Christmas album, Hell of a Holiday.
Husband Brendan McLoughlin
Lambert is currently married to Brendan McLoughlin, a police officer in New York City. The couple met on the set of Good Morning America just two months before their wedding on January 26, 2019. Lambert is also a stepmother to McLoughlin’s son, Landon, who was an infant at the time of their marriage.
The couple primarily resides on a 400-acre farm in rural Tennessee, while maintaining a residence in New York City to be close to Landon, who lives full-time with McLoughlin’s ex-girlfriend, Kaihla Rettinger. In September 2024, Lambert expressed her unexpected joy in marrying a city boy, stating, “I kind of went for it; no risk, no reward.”
Ex-Husband Blake Shelton
Lambert was previously married to fellow musician Blake Shelton. The couple solidified their status as one of country music’s power couples with their wedding in May 2011. Throughout their relationship, they collaborated on various projects, including Shelton co-writing several songs on Lambert’s 2009 album Revolution, and their joint effort on “Boys ’Round Here” with Pistol Annies.
Despite their public appearances, Lambert and Shelton faced persistent speculation regarding their relationship. In July 2015, they announced their divorce after four years of marriage, stating, “This is not the future we envisioned. And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately.” The split was formalized shortly after the announcement. Following her first marriage, Lambert dated R&B singer Anderson East for two years.
